We love Hamilton OH, and it offers a lot of cool things to do that it didn’t offer 10 or 15 years ago. I’ve personally spent a lot of time in Hamilton with my husband, and here are some of our favorite date night ideas. Some of these can be combined for a fun evening out.

Drinks, food, and music in one spot (sometimes)

If you like the brewery scene, you can visit Municipal Brew Works. The frequently have a food truck on site. You can check their Facebook page to find out what food truck will be there. Fun place to sit outside and have a drink downtown. Sometimes they have bands as well, or the amphitheater across the street could have music also. If you feel like dessert you can walk across the bridge and visit Village Parlor Hamilton, a nice little ice cream shop.

River views and bike trails

Rentschler Forest MetroPark has some nice simple hiking trails and a great view of the Miami River. There are a couple things you can do here; one great thing is grab some takeout for dinner and eat at one of the picnic tables looking over the river. There are also a few small hiking trails here that are nice. Finally, there is a nice parking lot right next to the bike trail – and the bike trail goes right to downtown Hamilton. So you can ride bikes from Rentschler to Municipal Brew Works or one of the other ideas that are in downtown Hamilton.

Outdoor sculptures and wandering together…

Pyramid Hill Sculpture Park. There are a lot of nice outdoor art pieces, ponds, and pretty views at this large park. Admission is $10 for adults if you don’t have a membership; but membership are only $55 bucks a year, so if you go 2 or 3 times a year it pays for itself. Also, in the winter they have a Lights on the Hill show with a ton of Christmas lights. The line can be really long, but something fun and romantic to do together in the cold winter months.

3 is better than 1 – add some variety to dinner

Grab drinks or appetizers at one spot, then dinner at another restaurant, then get dessert at a different spot. This is something fun that we like to do; as you can explore new places and try out new food pretty easily. There are some great places to try out in Hamilton that are all walking distance from each other – this makes for a great date night. The Hamilton Urban Backyard is worth checking out. If you don’t feel like staying downtown for dessert, a short drive to Flubs is always a win. We recommend the “Bryan’s Peanut Butter Cup” in the small size to share. If you drive to Flubs, there are some nice country roads just minutes away that are fun to cruise down while eating your ice cream. Whoever is driving gets to be fed ice cream while they drive for some extra fun.

Fun competition together

Pinball Garage. Really fun place if you are into playing some pinball. Drinks are reasonably priced as well (at least they were last time we visited). Play some pinball together and get outside your comfort zone a bit.

Car shows and the fair

Keep an eye on the Butler County Fairgrounds events page: https://butlercountyohfair.org/upcoming-events/ sometimes they have some fun things going on besides the fair/demolition derby. There are occasional car shows there as well.

Bonus: a nice morning date activity

In downtown Hamilton Ohio, a fun date idea is to visit the Farmer’s Market together at Marcum Park. This isn’t necessarily a date night idea, more of a date morning idea – but it is fun to walk around and check out the vendors. Usually open from 8am to noon.
